While grouping data in Microsoft Excel can be a useful way to preserve formatting, ungrouping can be desirable if you want to make specific changes. To ungroup a worksheet, right-click on one of the worksheets and select "Ungroup" or press ⇧ Shift while clicking any of the grouped worksheets. Similarly, you can ungroup rows or columns by highlighting the data area you want and selecting "Ungroup" in the "Data" tab (or using the appropriate keyboard shortcut). Don't forget to save your work before making changes to the groups!

Step 1. Identify the grouped worksheets

The tabs for the grouped worksheets are highlighted in a similar shade or color and the text in the tab of the active worksheet in the group is shown in bold.

Step 2. Right-click on one of the tabs of the grouped worksheets and select "Ungroup worksheets" from the context menu

Step 4. Re-group the worksheets after making changes (optional)

Press Ctrl (Windows) or ⌘ Cmd (Mac), hold down the key, and click the tabs for the worksheets you want to group. These worksheets are grouped after the button is released.
